Hakob Hakobyan | Analyses and articles

Today, August 15th, is 29th birthday of Hakob Hakobyan, an analyst and Board member at Enlight NGO, a hero of the 44-day Artsakh War, and an economist. In memoriam of Hakob the bilingual collection “Analytics and articles” was published in Armenian and English.

The selection includes Hakob’s analyses on economic and financial matters, translations of the articles from his professional field and his articles published on enlightngo.org from 2017 to 2020.

Hakob has written, translated, and edited a number of articles in the field of economics. He was coordinating the division of economists at “Enlight.”

Hakob received his bachelor’s degree in Commerce at the Faculty of Marketing and Business Organization at the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE) in 2013.

He served in the Armed Forces of  the RA from 2013 to 2015.

In 2015, within the framework of ASUE master’s program, he studied at the Faculty of Public Administration of the University of Tartu, Estonia, through the university exchange program ErasmusPlus. In 2017 he graduated from ASUE receiving his master’s degree in Management.

Since 2017 he has worked as an analyst in the Analytics Division of Financial Monitoring Center of the Central Bank of the RA. 

With ambitious plans to become a data scientist, he entered the American University of Armenia in 2018, where he studied for master’s  in Economics, until  heroically fell on the battlefield.

Hakob fell on the battlefield in the Kubatlu region on October 26, 2020. He was laid to rest in his native village Sayat-Nova, Ararat region.

According to the NH-296-A Decree of the President of the RA of November 11, 2020, “On Awarding the Medal for Combat Service,” ​Hakob was posthumously awarded the Medal “For Combat Service” for his courage and unwavering devotion while defending the borders of the homeland.

His memory is a bright light that will live forever in our heart and soul ~

Hakob left us all in an indescribable longing. Being an embodiment of decency, devotion, determination and patriotism, he is an example for us.  His heroism evoked vigilance and commitment in us.
