Below are presented the ceasefire violations in the direction of Tavush region, Republic of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and further developments, started at noon on July 12, according to the chronology with Russian, French and German translations.

The Armenian Armed Forces repelled the enemy’s attack back, causing significant losses. According to tentative information, the enemy’s special forces, apart from suffered casualties, also have servicemen left trapped. The Armenian side suffered no losses.

Movses, Aygepar, Vazashen, Dovegh, Barekamavan military positions, 9 times in total. Yeraskh, Chiva, Combat positions located in the direction of Zangakatun, 6 times in total.
The RA Armed Forces maintain restraint, respond only to the fire targeting our positions.

We have witnessed the patriotic manifestations of our servicemen many times. Today, our boys are once again proving their unwavering devotion to the homeland and the people. Conscripts subject to demobilization of all military units of the 3rd military unit unanimously appealed to their command, asking to stop demobilization, to allow them to continue serving alongside their comrades-in-arms and commanders until the end of the victory, as long as the enemy intends to attack. On the night of July 19-20, as well as at this moment, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has been relatively calm. The adversary violated the ceasefire regime nine times using firearms on different parts of the border, firing in the direction of Armenian posts with approximately 137 rounds. Twice the adversary utilized AGS-17 grenade launchers in the direction of military posts located near Chambarak. The adversary was silenced after the Armenian side returned fire. Indiscriminate shots were fired four times in the direction of military posts located near Chinari, Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Berkaber and Berdavan. The Armenian side did not return fire. Indiscriminate firing by the adversary was also registered in the direction of military posts near Khndzorut. The Armenian side did not respond. Shots were fired once in the direction of military posts near Paruyr Sevak; the Armenian side quelled the adversary by returning fire.

Statement of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia on the resumption of military operations of Azerbaijan towards Tavush region On July 16, early in the morning, the combat groups of the armed forces of Azerbaijan resumed military operations on the state border of the Republic of Armenia in the vicinity of Aygepar and Movses villages with the use of mortars and heavy artillery. Having received a proportionate response from the Armed Forces of Armenia, the forces of Azerbaijan were repelled with losses. With no gain in the battlefield, the Azerbaijani military units began shelling the villages of Movses and Aygepar deliberately targeting the civilian infrastructures and the population. It should be stressed that this aggression came as a treacherous violation of an arrangement on cessation of hostilities reached earlier and following the July 15 statement by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on the establishment of relative calm on the border. As a result of its short-sighted policy, the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan is at an impasse and now is resorting to perilous, ill-conceived steps for which it will bear responsibility also before its own people.

Today, at about 12:30, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, for reasons unknown to us, attempted to violate the state border of the Republic of Armenia in a UAZ vehicle in the direction of Tavush. After the warning of the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani servicemen left the vehicle and returned to their positions. At 13:45 the Azerbaijani servicemen repeated the attempt to occupy the Armenian position by using artillery fire, but were forced to retreat, incurring loss in manpower. No casualties have been reported from the Armenian side.

Despite the escalation of tensions towards the Tavush region of the Republic of Armenia on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on July 12, the operative situation on the line of contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan has been relatively calm both yesterday and tonight. The vanguard units of the Defense Army continue to confidently fulfill the military tasks and are always ready to repel any provocation of the enemy if necessary.

As a result of the proportionate actions of the Armenian side, these provocative actions have been effectively suppressed. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, in coordination with the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Minister of Defense, is in constant contact with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, presenting the situation on the ground and the consequences of further escalation. Recently, the Azerbaijani side, in contradiction to the calls of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to refrain from provocative actions and warmongering rhetoric, to strengthen the ceasefire, constantly resorts to the threats of use of force and military escalation.
